Designing temporary architectural spaces for use by artists across the New Forest September 2009 - ongoing
Elpida is central to the Artchitecture project team. It is a project developed in partnership with Solent Centre for Architecture and Design (SCA+D) and ArtSway, a contemporary visual arts organisation based in Sway. Artchitecture, is bringing together architects, artists and engineers to collaborate on exploring new models for rural architecture, through a series of temporary buildings in the New Forest National Park. The buildings will be a resource for interaction and debate on issues of sustainability, recycling, energy conservation and rural development, with artists’ inhabitation and activity as the catalyst.
The initial research to develop the project was supported by the Sustainable Development Fund of the New Forest National Park Authority. This funding enabled SCA+D to research and identify partners, run a workshop and develop a proposal for funding the design stage.
An exhibition of the proposals along with a public presentation and discussion seminar on the project was held at ArtSway on 26th and 27th of June 2010.
